Making Music...

Making a Difference.

MOAM for Light of Day

Each year in January, Musicians on a Mission participates in the week-long concert series in support of The Light of Day Foundation by putting together an afternoon concert in Asbury Park.  Each concert has featured three to five local acts. The proceeds benefit Light of Day, which funds research into possible cures, improved treatments and support for patients suffering from Parkinson's Disease and related illnesses.

Come to Your Senses

Come to Your Senses is a highly successful annual event designed to be a "feast for all five senses", featuring performances of five genres of music, an art exhibit, light gourmet fare, chair massages, and fragrant soaps and candles for sale.  This event truly has something for everyone. Shopping at a gift auction adds to the fun, and past proceeds have supported The Monmouth Museum on the campus of Brookdale Comunity College, and Mary's Place by the Sea, a healing center for women with cancer.

MOAM-A-Palooza

MOAM-A-Palooza, held each year at the Middletown Arts Center, is a delight for musicians and music-lovers.  Music-related gift auctions attract musicians and everyone is entertained at the open song circles.  Some food is provided, some is donated by guests, and non-perishable foods are collected for a local food pantry.  Proceeds have supported The Howell Emergency Food Pantry and SPUR (Special People United to Ride), an equestrian program for children and adults with disabilities.

RiverFest

Since 2011, Musicians on a Mission has been invited to provide the music for  the Waterfront Stage at Riverfest, a 3-day music and food festival held in Red Bank during the first weekend in June.  MOAM members provide the musical entertainment, rocking the Waterfront Stage by showcasing the incredible variety and range of musical talent found in this area. In 2015, Musicians on a Mission put together a highly successful Battle of the Bands on Friday night on the main stage. RIP RiverFest.

Celebration and CD Release Gala

One of the projects that MOAM organizes in support of local music is the production of a compilation CD featuring New Jersey musicians who have played  for Musicians on a Mission events. "MOAM, the first two years" was released in November, 2012, coinciding with a celebration of the second anniversary of Musicians on a Mission.  Held just weeks after Hurricane Sandy, the proceeds of this event were donated to local hurricane relief.  The proceeds of the CD were donated to the Monmouth County SPCA. "MOAM, volume 2" was released in November of  2013.  The proceeds of that Celebration and CD Release were donated to Monmouth County Habitat for Humanity. "MOAM, Volume 3" was released in November of 2014.

Open Mics and More

Musicians on a Mission has held regular open mics, at a variety of venues throughout Monmouth County, including Green Planet and Rockin'Joe's coffeehouses, The Belmar Arts Council, and The Saint in Asbury Park. MOAM's open mics generally have a theme and offer all musicians the opportunity to play. Non-perishable foods are collected to be donated to Fulfill.
